Czech cuisine, along with many of the fine cakes and pastries that are popular in Central Europe, originated in the Czech lands. Pork is quite common, as well as beef and chicken. Also, many traditions were carried over to Texas from the Czech Republic. And Czechs in Texas not only carried on their traditions, but invented some new ones of their own along the way.

Chris:	Goulash? How much is it?
Brant:	Pork cutlet costs eighty crowns and goulash fourty five. Do you have enough money for it?
Chris:	Yes, I do. I got something from my parents.
Brant:	Today I'm hungry for a big piece of meat. I am cold and need a warm meal.
Chris:	Good. Today they have enough. We are going to have supper.
Waitress:	So, what would you like, gentlemen?
Brant:	Pork cutlet, please. And tripe soup.
Waitress:	Yes, good. And you?
Chris:	I will have that chicken with potato salad. And the soup as well.
Waitress:	So, it is soup two times, pork cutlet one time, and chicken with potato salad one time. And for a drink?
Chris:	Large beer.
Waitress:	It will be right out. Is this all?
Brant:	Yes, that's everything. Thank you.

Chris:	Dáme si něco k jídlu? Máš hlad?
Brant:	Ale jo, proč ne. Já mám strašný hlad.
Chris:	Podíváme se, co mají. Jídelní lístek, prosím.
Brant:	Smažený sýr, Přírodní vepřový řízek, Vepřo-knedlo-zelo, Šunku, Kuře na rožni, Dršťkovou polévku, and Hovězí guláš.
Chris:	Roštěnou? Kolik to stojí?
Brant:	Vepřový řízek stojí osmdesát korun a guláš čtyřicet pět. Máš na to dost peněz?
Chris:	Ano, mám. Dostal jsem něco od rodičú.
Brant:	Dnes mám chuť na pořádný kus masa. Je mi zima, potřebuji teplé jídlo.
Chris:	Dobře. Dnes mají dost. Budeme večeřet.
Číšnice:	Tak, co si budete přát, pánové?
Brant:	Přírodní vepřový řízek, prosím. A dršťkovou polévku.
Číšnice:	Ano, dobře. A vy?
Chris:	Já si dám to kuře s bramborovým salátem. A také polévku.
Číšnice:	Takže to máme dvakrát polévku, jednou vepřový řízek, a jednou kuře s bramborovým salátem. A co k pití?
Chris:	Velké pivo.
Číšnice:	Hned to bude. Je to všechno?
Brant:	Ano, všechno. Děkujeme.
